We wish you a happy 2012 and also thank you for your support towards the success of the The Plant for the Planet: Billion Tree Campaign and UNEP's work. As you may be aware, the international tree planting campaign - the Plant for the Planet: Billion Tree Campaign, which has been coordinated by the United Nations Environment Programme since 2007, and whose participants include children and youth was handed over to the German based Plant for the Planet Foundation in December 2011. They are now the campaign's new managers. I am now working in UNEP's Children and Youth "Tunza" Programme. I will be delighted to continue working with you on environmental issues. Our Tunza programme has a wide range of activities from the Tunza conferences to the Tunza magazine, networking and the International Children's Painting Competition. The deadline for this year's edition of the Painting Competition will be on 15 February 2012. I am hereby attaching information on the Competition and hope that many of you will submit your entries before the deadline. THE 21 ST INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN'S PAINTING COMPETITION ON THE ENVIRONMENT: - UNEP has launched the 21th International children's painting competition. The Competition is organized annually by the UNEP and the Japan-based Foundation for Global Peace and Environment (FGPE), Bayer and Nikon Corporation. What don't you like about our environment - our communities, cities, forests, oceans and atmosphere? The selection process will be in two stages; the regional selection which will be done by UNEP Regional Offices and their partners, and the global selection which will be done by UNEP and its partners, Foundation for Global peace and Environment (FGPE), Bayer and Nikon Corporation.
