Many thanks for the delightful Polish Christmas card you sent a few weeks ago. I hope that 2001 will bring you happiness and good health. We are going through a particularly cold and snowy winter this year in New York, and it lifts my spirits to receive greetings from Academy members around the globe.
Your lecture series on economic theory sounds most interesting. You write that much work still needs to be done in Poland for the economy. As an association of scientists and educators, the Academy respects the positive educational efforts that you and others are undertaking on this front in your country. You may be aware that the Academy hosts an Economics Section, a group of members who meet regularly to discuss economic issues. I have enclosed a calendar of upcoming meetings to give you a sense of their activities. If any of your writings or lectures are available in English, we would be pleased to circulate them among members of the Section to generate interest in your work.
